Montfort Brothers Of Saint Gabriel(S.G.)

The Brothers of Saint Gabriel linked their foundation to St. Louis Marie De Montfort (1673 – 1716) in France. The first brothers were associated with the founder; St. Louis Marie, and assisted him in his missionary preaching in the Western part of France. In the course of his mission St. Louis Mary De Montfort established charitable schools for poor and needy children. He entrusted this work to early followers, from whom the group grew to be latter known as the Brothers of St. Gabriel.

Since then, it has spread to thirty two countries and is engaged in the mission of Education. “Education” is a very wide connection, therefore the organization caters to the educational needs of not only children and youth in academic schools but also imparts in technical education, education of deaf, the dumb and the blind, the physically and mentally challenged and engages in village upliftment through social works especially among the downtrodden and the marginalized. Montfortian education chooses for the total development of the young. They are helped to discover their God given talents and work towards their fullest development in order to place them at the service of the society. It seeks to enable the young to search for the truth by training them to analyze the reality, from critical judgments, search for solution and work out a synthesis.

The Brothers are rendering their services in India for more than 100 years in different dioceses in various capacities with great appreciation from the Bishops, priests, relegious and the laity. The year 2003 was the centenary year for the Institute of Brothers of St. Gabriel in India.

St. John's Industrial Training Institute is one of the post-secondary schools in India constituted under Directorate General of Employment & Training (DGET), Guindy, Chennai. The Institute gives emphasis to Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, to provide training in various trades. We offer technical courses, which could ensure students a job in future. Our courses are framed more practically than theories.
